Funny Pig

Dress: Marks & Spencers Limited Collection, Boots: Clarks.
Fashion is a funny thing. Currently it's 2012 and I'm dressing more appropriately for the 1960s. Does this mean that in 50 years from now I'll be ready to embrace disco pants, studs and other 2012 fashion scenarios that nowadays make me quake with fear? My 71 year old self will be a scary sight indeed.

Hogtor Who

Coat: Joy, Bag: Nica, Tights: Marks and  Spencers, Boots: Bertie via TK Maxx

I realise that long hiatuses from blogging are very much frowned upon however I do have a pretty concrete excuse, even if I do say so myself: I travelled back in time to the sixties.

Did the swing coat give it away? Or perhaps my velvet Chelsea boots? Either way I think you'll have to agree that my ability to blend into my surrounding era is quite marvellous. Doctor Who has got nothing on this pig.

The Hog Princess

Dress: Oasis, Belt: Oasis
Sometimes I think you can tell that I was raised on Disney films. This dress for instance just screams Disney princess. Can't see it? Well, let me just refer you to the official Disney Princess Dress-code Check-list:

1) Colour must be suitably feminine. Pink or purple are preferable, however  blue is acceptable so long as it falls into the shades of aqua, bluebell or baby.

2) A floaty silhouette is a must. The more you look like you are an ethereal creature that could at any moment float up into the heavens, the better.

3) Trimmings should be delicate. Lace and embroidery should not be too distracting. Over the top decoration is best left to ugly sisters who need the distraction.

4) Accessorising? Take inspiration from fairy dust and opt for glittery belts, bags, shoes, pumpkins. The more glitter the more dazzled your love interest will be.

Told you so. Now where did I leave my Prince Charming?

Spighetti

Dress: Zara, Shoes: Russell and Bromley,  Clutch:  Vintage

I like food. I think that this is probably why on seeing this dress I immediately christened it 'the blue spaghetti dress' and  as simply as that this post received the worst pun title to date. I have a way with words.

I'd like to say that I wore this dress to an Italian restaurant - or even Italy (hint hint)- however, I actually wore it for a night out in Liverpool this weekend. Sans scouse brow of course!

Aside from copious amounts of alcohol and crazy dancing my friends and I also mooched around the city centre in the light of day too, visiting Liverpool One, Albert Docks and the University. Despite visiting Liverpool quite a few times before for both shopping and art gallery visits I always seem to forget how much I like Liverpool. Definitely aiming to go back again- even if it is just to do some serious damage to my bank account in Liverpool One...

Split roast

Top: Wallis, Skirt: Warehouse, Necklace: Accessorize

I think that this outfit could go one of two ways really:

1) Add a pair of oversized sunglasses and voilĂ  I transform in to your generic Hollywood starlet circa the boho years minus the eating disorder.

2) Pass me a tambourine and the resemblance to Esmeralda is uncanny. (Photoshop me in front of the Notre Dame and it's even better)

Despite rhythm being a foreign concept to me I think I know which look I'd prefer. Now where did I put my tambourine..?

Britain's Next Top Pig

Dress: Next, Shoes: Clarks

Years ago the Next sale used to be the highlight of my shopping calender. My mum and I would go through every rail in a methodical motion to ensure that both our wish lists got completed for a fraction of the price. This was at a time when I loved nothing better than going through the Next directory in a selection ritual, marking my desires and wants with a little Biro star and a folded page. Once selected the wish list was formed and the sale anticipation began. This year however what with being at uni and working at Oasis my trips home have been rare and the chance to labour over the glossy pages of the Next directory even rarer. As a result I faced this years Next sale wish list less. And what a lovely experience it was!

You see, having no knowledge of the stock (for most shops I am a walking, snorting encyclopaedia) that I was about to face left me experiencing the sale as if it was a collection that had just launched, albeit a very chaotic and reduced collection. This also meant that instead of leaving laden with an abundance of clothing that fulfilled my wish list I just left with this lovely retro broderie anglais shirt dress. Adorable just isn't the word.

Pig off: Peppa Pig

Peppa Pig for those of you who are not cultured in the ways of children's television is a pig who enjoys jumping in muddy puddles (who doesn't?) and wearing an excessive amount of blusher. However as with most television stars she has quite an enviable wardrobe, albeit a capsule one at that. You see, after much detective work I have deduced that Peppa Pig wears Calvin Klein. And no I'm not crazy, just look at this:

It's a perfect match! Clean lines and minimalistic elegance. Just add in some yellow Hunter wellies et voilĂ , you'll be as fashionable as a snorting cartoon pig! What's not to love?!

Obviously I just had to try this outfit on for size although I'm not sure how I feel about wearing Calvin Klein to jump in mud. It is a very ostentatious notion is it not? Will it come out? Will it not? So many questions. And on that note I leave you with my final query: Who wore it best: Peppa or Hogfreckles? Please send your answers on a postcard or sealed envelope to the comments box below...

Hot to trotter

Top: Per Una at Marks and Spencer; Jeans: Oasis; Bag: Vintage; Shoes: Asos.
And so I have joined the peplum posse. I mean, have you met a blogger that doesn't own a peplum? Originality thy name is fashion blogging.

As well as my new fancy, smancy, lacy peplum I also got...
*drum-roll please*... NEW SHOES!!!

ahem, sorry I meant:

NEW PINK SHOES!!!

A pigs got to keep her trotters well cared for after all. Especially if Asos has a sale on. It would be rude not to after all.

Winter is hogging

Dress: Oasis, Necklace: Topshop,  Boots: Zara

Yes, its that special time again when I get a new dress from work... yay! How cool is the drop waist? I do feel very wintery when wearing it but then again our current weather situation (rain, rain and more rain) hardly demands summer attire.
I think my current reading choice may also be to blame as I am reading the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin and unsurprisingly for a born and bred northerner I am team Stark all the way! I'm now onto the third book so I think for the foreseeable future I'm going to be trying to get my hand on a cloak and some boiled leather to complete the look. Would a sword be a step too far or would I get brownie points for outfit commitment?

Pigging Out

Dress: Oasis, Clutch: Vintage (aka stolen of my mum), Shoes: Next

I'm back! Did you miss me?

These past few weeks have been kind of stressful as I've had exams- boo! I'm so glad that they're now over- not that the stress has ended mind you as I'm still trying to find a placement for my year out. At this rate it looks like I'm just going in to third year which just isn't what I want. I'll trade cookies for placement.

Anyway, enough of my fashion student problems, lets divert our attention to my gorgeous new dress that I wore out to celebrate the  end of my exams. Recently at work a new collection has arrived that is inspired by a book about vintage scarves by Nicky Albrechtsen. I was lucky enough to be allowed this dress on uniform so it didn't cost me that much however I do think that the £75 price tag is still in keeping with normal Oasis clothing prices, especially considering that all the garments are 100% silk.

When wearing the dress at work I just wear my black Zara boots and black tights as I think the dress speaks for itself and I don't want to over complicate it. Likewise when I went out in Manchester I just wore it with my trusty wedges which my mum got in the Next sale many years ago when GCSEs were my main worry in life and added my trusty clutch which was also stolen off my mum. It may just be all the CSI episodes that I've been watching but I think I'm detecting a pattern...

Hogging 9 till 5

purple necklace: Accessorize, turquoise necklace: Warehouse, the rest:Oasis

I wouldn't want you to think that I just swan around all day and have my clothes handed to me in a golden trough as that's in no way what I do and, more than likely, no way what you do. In order to fund my ever expanding wardrobe I have a job as a sales assistant at Oasis. As part of the job I have to wear Oasis clothing which means that I'm always getting gorgeous pieces to add to my wardrobe- a definite perk (or should that be pork..?) to the job! Take this tropical print jacket- it was love at first sight! The only problem is that when i'm meant to be working I cant help but imagine myself on a beach in Hawaii sipping cocktails in the sun!I'm such a daydreamer!

Tropigal

dress: Marks & Spencer's Limited Collection, tights: Marks & Spencer, boots: Simply Be, bag: Gharani Strok via TK Maxx

Popped this colourful outfit on to watch the Hunger Games (so good) yesterday as I refuse to accept that the summer weather is over- boo to snow! Although I did cave and wear my trusty old 60 denier tights as goosebumps are not going to make the pages of Vogue anytime soon. My dress is more tropical than lava lamp in real life but what can you do? For some reason my camera just wouldn't pick it up, I think it may be allergic to flowers, perhaps hayfever? This could be a slight issue given that my wardrobe is 90% floral...

Hogging

necklace: Accessorize, top: Warehouse, jeans: Marks & Spencer's Limited Collection, boots: Zara

Hi, I'm Hogfreckles- just your average freckly pig with a major fetish for fashion. Seriously, why pigs would rather cover themselves in mud than fabric is beyond me! Mud wraps being the exception naturally.
Anyhow, I thought it was about time that I start documenting my sartorial escapades in a more fitting format (my farm fashion shows just never seemed to take off for some reason...), namely blogging. I suppose you could call me a Hogger. Oink!
